According to Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, United fans lack integrity.
Guardiola was furious after Manchester United supporters insulted Phil Foden’s mother with chants at Old Trafford. He commented that the United fans were rude and lacked integrity.
The Manchester Derby ended in a goalless draw on Sunday at United’s ground. Foden started for City but was substituted by Guardiola midway through the second half.
Foden, a boy from Stockport near Manchester, has supported City since childhood and now plays for the club. Apart from Foden, the only other local player in the Manchester Derby that day was City’s Niko O’Reilly.
Despite being a local, Foden had to endure various chants during the derby, with his mother being disrespected as well. In response to the chants from United supporters, Foden gave a thumbs-up.
Guardiola did not appreciate the behavior of United’s fans. After the match, he expressed his anger.
“Rudeness isn’t just United, it’s the people here… We are much more exposed in world football – coaches, owners, and especially players. Honestly, I don’t understand the mentality of those talking about Phil’s mother. There’s a lack of integrity and decency here. They should be ashamed of themselves.”
