Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim are set to represent historical club Mohamedan in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL) which will be held next year in March-April, sources confirmed to Midfield.
In the last season, they both represented Prime Bank Cricket Club and Tamim played for that club from 2020, besides Mushfiqur Rahim joined that team in 2021.
In recent seasons, Mohamedan cricket club couldn’t make a strong team to fight for the championship, but now they want to try to remove the trophy drought and are ready to cost a big amount of money. Besides Tamim-Mushfiq they will retain veteran cricketers like- Mahmudullah Riyad, Imrul Kayes, and Mehedy Hasan Miraz for the upcoming season. Also, young star Mahidul Islam Ankon will play for that club.
DPL is one of the most competitive tournaments in the domestic circuit of Bangladesh cricket and every player wants to perform well in that tournament. Also, BCB, spectators, and media have a good focus on that tournament. This tournament has been known for good payment as well for the cricketers.
Besides, Tamim and Mushfiq, young star Tawhid Hridoy will change his team in the DPL, he will probably join another team Legends of Rupgonj from defending champion Abahani, before the 2023-24 season, he played for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
On the other side, Mashrafee bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan probably won’t feature on DPL, It will be confirmed after the BPL 2025.
