Before this, the Bangladesh Under-19 team hadn’t managed to post many big totals in the tournament. Their highest score was 228 runs. However, in the final against India in Dubai, Azizul Hakim’s side couldn’t even reach that mark, getting bowled out for just 198 runs. This means the bowlers now carry the main responsibility if they are to retain the title.
Bangladesh’s total could have been even smaller, but they managed to get close to 200 thanks to a crucial 31-run partnership for the ninth wicket between Farid Hasan and Al Fahad. Earlier, Bangladesh had lost 8 wickets for 167 runs despite a promising start. Jawad Abrar opened the scoring for Bangladesh with a six off Yudhajit Guh in the very first over.
However, from the other end, Kalam Siddique struggled to score and was dismissed for just 1 run off 16 balls by Yudhajit. Jawad also fell right after the powerplay, scoring 20 runs. The team’s key player, Azizul Hakim, couldn’t contribute a big innings either, getting out for 16 runs. His dismissal was a major blow for Bangladesh’s batting lineup, as Azizul had been carrying the team with the bat throughout the tournament.
