After the political shift on August 5th, there have been changes within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as well. Faruk Ahmed, the former captain of the national team, has been appointed as the new president of the board, nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC). Another director nominated by the NSC, Nazmul Abedin, has also joined the board.
The BCB faced a director shortage after several of the previous directors resigned, leading to stagnation in several departments. Today, at a board meeting held at the BCB office in Mirpur, discussions were held regarding elections for these vacant positions. To address this, the board will seek legal advisors’ help, as confirmed by board director Mahbubul Anam after the meeting.
In today’s meeting, the positions of committee heads among the current directors were rearranged for the smooth functioning of the board. Many committees saw new chairmen, while others retained their old ones. However, the positions of the Security and Working Committee heads remain vacant. Mahbubul Anam stated that the committee heads will form complete committees and submit them to the board.
After the reshuffle, Nazmul Abedin has been appointed as the head of the Cricket Operations Committee and Women’s Wing, positions he had informally overseen for a while.
Additionally, Fahim Sinha has been appointed as the head of the Finance, Game Development, Logistics, and Protocol Committees. Saiful Alam Swapan will head the Disciplinary Committee and Age-group Tournament Committee. Akram Khan will oversee the Tournament, Physically Challenged Cricket, and Facilities Committees. Mahbubul Anam is also responsible for three committees: Grounds, High Performance, and Tender & Purchase.
Iftekhar Ahmed has been given the responsibility for the Media and Umpires Committees. Monjurul Alam will head the Medical and Welfare Committee. Salahuddin Chowdhury will lead the Audit Committee and the CCDM, while Kazi Enam Ahmed will remain the head of the Bangladesh Tigers. Finally, the Marketing Committee will be led by BCB president Faruk Ahmed.
