At the moment, there’s not much risk, but he needs to rest at home for a long time.
Tamim Iqbal, the former captain of Bangladesh, has been discharged from the hospital four days after having a stent placed in his heart. While his condition is stable for now, he must follow medical advice and continue resting at home for an extended period.
He returned home on Friday afternoon from Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. However, Tamim will need to visit the hospital again on Saturday for some follow-up tests and dental treatment. Even while at home, he will need to stay in constant contact with his doctors.
After the surgery, the Director General of the Health Directorate, Professor Abu Zafar, mentioned that Tamim would need at least three months to return to normal activities. However, once his body stabilizes after the surgery, he will be able to carry out basic activities and go for walks at home.
Last Monday, while playing a Dhaka Premier League match for Mohammedan Sporting Club at BKSP, Tamim left the field after experiencing chest pain. He was initially taken to KPJ Hospital for primary treatment. However, as he was preparing to return to Dhaka by helicopter, his condition worsened, and he fell unconscious. He was immediately rushed back to the same hospital.
Doctors confirmed that he had suffered a massive heart attack, and a stent was quickly placed in his heart. Thanks to the prompt response of Mohammedan’s trainer and the hospital staff, Tamim narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation.
The next evening, he was transferred to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for further observation. After a few days under medical supervision, the country’s most successful opener has now returned home to continue his recovery.
