Mohammed Siraj put on a brilliant performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, representing Gujarat Titans with flair.
He struck early, removing Travis Head on just the sixth ball of the match. Siraj didn’t stop there—he went on to claim three more wickets, finishing with his career-best figures in T20 cricket. Reflecting on his performance, he said, “I’m really enjoying it. I had some rest and worked on my bowling, fitness, and mindset. My body feels fresh, so I’m enjoying bowling a lot.”
Siraj ended the match with figures of 4 for 17—his best in a recognized T20 game. Interestingly, he had previously taken 4 for 17 against New Zealand in 2022 as well.
He’s been in great form this season. In the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he picked up 3 wickets for just 19 runs. Against Mumbai Indians, he took 2 for 34. Though he went wicketless in the Titans’ season opener, conceding 54 runs, he has bounced back strongly.
Against Hyderabad, Gujarat’s bowling unit was in top gear. Alongside Siraj, both Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore took two wickets each. As a result, Sunrisers could only manage 152 runs for 8 wickets.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field, handing the new ball to Siraj. Although he was hit for two boundaries in his first over, he had the last laugh by getting Head caught at mid-wicket with a sharp full-length delivery.
Siraj returned in the fifth over to dismiss Abhishek Sharma, reaching the milestone of 100 wickets in the IPL.
He capped off his spell in style by striking twice in the penultimate over—trapping Aniket Verma LBW and then shattering Simarjeet Singh’s stumps.
Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled with the bat. Nitish Kumar Reddy was their top scorer with 31, while Heinrich Klaasen added 27 off 19 balls and Pat Cummins chipped in with a quick 22 from 9.
