Amelia Kerr has won the Women’s Cricketer of the Year award for the third consecutive time.
Mott Henry, who had an outstanding season with the ball, earned the prestigious Sir Richard Hadlee Medal as New Zealand’s Men’s Cricketer of the Year. Kerr claimed the Debbie Hockley Medal, marking her third straight win as the best female cricketer.
The New Zealand Cricket Awards were held on Wednesday, where six different players have now received the Men’s Cricketer of the Year award over the past six years. Ross Taylor (2020), Kane Williamson (2021), Tim Southee (2022), Daryl Mitchell (2023), and Rachin Ravindra (2024) were the previous winners.
Henry, who took home the Hadlee Medal, also won the Best Test and ODI Cricketer awards. In the season, he took 25 wickets at an average of 20.08 in five Tests and 24 wickets at 15.50 in ODIs. He played a key role in New Zealand’s run to the Champions Trophy final.
The award for Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year went to Jacob Duffy, who claimed 21 wickets in T20s at an average of 9.71, currently ranking at the top for T20 bowlers.
Kane Williamson was honored with the Redpath Cup for an excellent batting performance in First-Class cricket, scoring 395 runs in three Tests at an average of 65.83, including a century and two fifties.
Amelia Kerr dominated the Women’s Cricket Awards, taking home the Hockley Medal as well as awards for Best ODI, T20, and Women’s Super Smash Player of the Year.
Amelia was a key player in New Zealand’s Women’s T20 World Cup victory last year, taking 15 wickets in the tournament, the most by any player, and scoring 135 runs, the third-highest for her team. She was also named Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament.
She had previously won the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award as well.
In the last season, Kerr took 14 wickets in ODIs and led the Wellington Blaze to victory in the Women’s Super Smash, scoring 441 runs and taking 15 wickets.
