Amir Jangoo, who made headlines with a sensational 79-ball century on debut against Bangladesh, has been included in the West Indies squad for the upcoming tours of England and Ireland. The 27-year-old left-handed batter impressed with his attacking style and is now set to wear the maroon again.
Also returning to the side is 18-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Jewel Andrew, who continues to rise through the ranks with his consistent performances.
As expected, Shai Hope will lead the ODI squad. Fast bowlers Matthew Forde and Shamar Joseph, who were part of the squad against Bangladesh but missed out due to injury, have returned to the team.
One notable omission is Shimron Hetmyer. The explosive left-hander has struggled for form in the ongoing IPL and fails to make the cut this time.
Other than these changes, the squad remains mostly unchanged from the Bangladesh series. However, there’s a shift in the coaching lineup. Former New Zealand cricketer James Franklin has been replaced by Ravi Rampaul as the bowling coach. Additionally, former Ireland all-rounder Kevin O’Brien will join the coaching staff for the Ireland leg of the tour.
The three-match ODI series against Ireland begins on May 21, followed by the England ODIs starting May 29. The West Indies will also play a T20I series against England, with that squad to be announced later.
