Shoriful ruled out of Pakistan series due to muscle injury
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the Pakistan series after suffering a muscle injury during the second T20I. According to a press release from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), he will be sidelined for at least two weeks.
Shoriful picked up the injury while bowling his first over and immediately left the field. He did not return to bowl or bat. Shamim Hossain was called in early to complete the over.
From the nature of the injury, it was clear he wouldn’t return for the rest of the match—and now it’s confirmed he will miss the remainder of the series. Medical scans, including an MRI, later revealed a Grade 1 strain in his rectus femoris muscle.
BCB physio Delwar Hossain said, “Shoriful sustained the injury while bowling during the second T20I in Lahore on Friday. Follow-up assessments, including an MRI scan, have confirmed a Grade 1 strain in the rectus femoris muscle on the right side.”
He added, “Due to this injury, Shoriful will not be available for selection for the next two to three weeks. This will allow him to recover properly and undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCB medical team.”
As a result, Shoriful will miss the third and final T20I. Bangladesh have already lost the three-match series 2–0.
