The 1895 County Championship ran as the sixth officially organised running of the tournament in England. Fourteen teams competed across one hundred thirty-one matches in the first-class cricket competition. The matches took place between 6 May and 2 September 1895 using a three-day format.
Teams played under a league system where one point went to the winner of a match, while losses resulted in losing one point. The final standings relied on the percentage of completed matches for each team, calculated by dividing earned points by the number of matches that ended in a win or a loss.
Surrey claimed the championship title for the fifth time. Surrey players also dominated the individual statistics for the season. Bobby Abel scored the most runs with 1,787 runs for Surrey, and teammate Tom Richardson took the most wickets with 239 wickets for Surrey.
