The format for drawn matches included nuanced scoring based on first-innings leads. Sides received five points for leading after the first innings, while the trailing team secured three points. If the first innings ended in a tie, both teams received four points, and four points were also awarded for a no result after more than six hours of play.
Matches lasting less than six hours without a first-innings result were declared void. This points system governed the competition throughout the summer as clubs vied for the top spot.
