Ranji Trophy 1947–48

The 1947–48 Ranji Trophy marked the 14th season of India's premier first-class cricket competition. Seventeen teams entered the knockout tournament, all vying for the title in a high-stakes format where a single loss meant immediate elimination. As the matches progressed, the field narrowed until only two teams remained to battle for the championship.

Holkar emerged as the winners, securing their second title by defeating Bombay in the final. Although the match was played as a timeless encounter, the result arrived on the fourth day. Bombay won the toss and elected to bat first, but they could not prevent Holkar from claiming the trophy.

Individual performances stood out throughout the season. K. C. Ibrahim of Bombay topped the batting charts by scoring 606 runs across his innings. Meanwhile, Hiralal Gaekwad of Holkar dominated with the ball, finishing the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 29 dismissals.
