The 1905–06 Sheffield Shield marked the 14th edition of the Australian domestic first-class cricket competition. Three teams competed in the tournament, which followed a double round-robin format over the course of six matches.
New South Wales claimed the title, marking their eighth championship victory in the competition. Their performance secured them the top spot against their rivals during the season.
James Mackay led the batting charts for New South Wales, accumulating 559 runs throughout the tournament. His contributions were vital to the team's success in the campaign.
Jack Saunders from Victoria topped the bowling statistics. He finished the season with 27 wickets, standing out as the most successful bowler in the competition.
