The 1912–13 Sheffield Shield served as the 21st edition of the premier first-class cricket competition in Australia. Only three teams competed in the tournament, facing each other in a double round-robin format that spanned a total of six matches.
South Australia claimed the championship title, marking the third time the state had secured the trophy. The team dominated the individual statistics as well, with Edgar Mayne leading the run-scoring charts by accumulating 476 runs throughout the season.
Bill Whitty bolstered the South Australian effort from the bowling crease. He finished the campaign as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, claiming 25 wickets across the matches played.
