Australia hosted the thirty-second edition of the Sheffield Shield during the 1923 to 1924 season. Three teams competed across six matches in a double round-robin format for the first-class cricket championship.
Victoria claimed the title by winning the tournament, securing the ninth championship in team history. Individual performances drove the campaign, with Bill Ponsford leading all run-scorers by accumulating 529 runs for Victoria.
Albert Hartkopf dominated the bowling attacks for the champions. He took 22 wickets to finish the season as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.
