The thirty-third edition of the Sheffield Shield took place during the 1924-25 Australian summer as a first-class cricket competition. Three teams contested the tournament across six matches using a double round-robin format.
Victoria claimed the championship title, securing their tenth Shield success. Individual players also delivered standout statistical performances during the six matches.
Alan Kippax of New South Wales topped the run-scoring charts with 532 runs. Clarrie Grimmett of South Australia dominated with the ball, taking 28 wickets.
South Australia secured a notable victory by 161 runs over New South Wales at Adelaide in January 1925. That result marked South Australia's first Sheffield Shield win since February 1914.
