Sheffield Shield 1973–74

The eighty-second edition of the Sheffield Shield ran across Australia as a first-class cricket tournament featuring five competing teams. Five sides played twenty matches across a double round-robin format during the summer of 1973 and 1974.

Victoria claimed the championship title by the end of the schedule. This victory marked the twenty-second Sheffield Shield title for Victoria in the history of the competition.

Individual players from Queensland dominated the statistical charts despite the team result. Greg Chappell of Queensland scored the most runs in the tournament with 1013 runs. Geoff Dymock of Queensland took the most wickets in the tournament with 39 dismissals.
