Sheffield Shield 1976–77

The 1976–77 Sheffield Shield marked the 85th edition of Australia's premier domestic first-class cricket competition. Five teams competed across a double round-robin format, playing a total of 20 matches throughout the Australian summer.

Western Australia claimed the championship title for the sixth time in the history of the tournament. The champions dominated through stellar bowling performances, led by Mick Malone who captured 40 wickets.

David Hookes of South Australia piled on the runs to finish as the leading run-scorer with 788. Meanwhile, Victoria player Richie Robinson earned the player of the series award for his standout contributions.
