Imran Parvez goes by the nickname Ripon and was born in Rajshahi on 28 December 1977. Before moving into officiating, the Bangladeshi cricketer played domestic matches as a right-handed batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler for Rajshahi Division from the 2000/01 season through 2003/04.
Across 27 matches, Parvez scored 378 runs with a top score of 37 not out against Barisal Division. With the ball, he claimed 76 wickets at an average of 27.36. His best bowling figures were 5 for 35, and he managed one other five-wicket haul of 5 for 82 against Chittagong Division, alongside taking 20 catches.
After finishing his playing days, Parvez transitioned to umpiring in domestic cricket and has stood in matches for Bangladesh's National Cricket League.
During a 2021 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League match between Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club, Parvez faced heavy on-field protests from Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib kicked the stumps and argued over a decision, and later uprooted the stumps entirely during a rain break while accusing the officials of bias.
