Mishu Chowdhury

Mishu Chowdhury transitioned from being a professional cricketer to a prominent figure in the officiating world. Born in Bogura in 1990, she played as an all-rounder for teams like Mohammedan Sporting Club and Sylhet Division between 2005 and 2013. A ligament injury forced her retirement from the sport, but she remained connected to the industry through sports anchoring, writing, and acting in numerous films and television dramas.

Her officiating career began in 2022. On 29 October that year, she became one of the first four Bangladeshi women to umpire in the 3rd Division Men's Cricket League. She has since expanded her reach, serving as the first Bangladeshi woman umpire to officiate in the New York Bangladesh Cricket League in 2023. Her domestic assignments have included the Dhaka Premier Division Women Cricket League, the T-20 Men's Physically Disability Cricket League, and the Under-14 Men's Cricket League.

The progression into higher levels of the game continued with her international debut at the Women's U19 Tri-Nation T20 Series in 2024. In March of that same year, she earned a selection to the ICC Development Panel of Umpires. Beyond her work on the pitch and in media, she balances her time by teaching at an English-medium school and has authored a book titled Bangladesher Nari Kriketer Ovijatra.

Chowdhury holds two degrees, having graduated in Accounting from Eden Mohila College and in Mass media and journalism from Stamford University. She has also performed in stage plays throughout her life, starting with the Bogra Theatre and later appearing in Surgao for Desh Natok in 2016. Her background includes competitive badminton and a history of receiving various awards for her roles in anchoring and acting.
