Sajid Afridi was born on 8 April 1969 in Charsadda, Pakistan. Before moving into his current role as an umpire, he spent time on the field as a first-class cricketer. During his playing days, he served as a right-arm fast medium bowler and a right-handed batsman.
He represented Peshawar teams throughout his domestic career. His participation included appearances in the 1990-91 and 1994-95 editions of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. These years provided the foundation for his shift from player to official.
Afridi transitioned to officiating matches following his retirement from the playing circuit. He stood in matches during the 2015-16 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
