Samuel J Nogajski was born in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia on 1 January 1979. Before working full-time in cricket, he taught mathematics at The Hutchins School until 2012. That same year, he joined the National Umpire Panel.
His career progressed to the international stage when he joined Cricket Australia's international panel of umpires in 2016. He also travelled to India to stand as an umpire in the 2016 to 2017 Ranji Trophy.
Nogajski made his Twenty20 International debut on 19 February 2017 during a match between Australia and Sri Lanka at Kardinia Park in Geelong. Later that year, he officiated his first One Day International between Papua New Guinea and Scotland.
Over the years, tournament appointments followed across various global events. He was named as an on-field umpire for the 2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20 and officiated at the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates. He also stood as an umpire during the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
His international career spans 2 Tests, 25 ODIs, 38 T20Is, 4 WODIs, and 20 WT20Is.
