Umesh L Dubey was born on 10 December 1962 in Mumbai. He established himself as an official in the Indian domestic circuit long before appearing on the international stage. His early work included officiating in the 1999-00 Ranji Trophy season. This experience in high-pressure domestic cricket helped build his reputation as a reliable figure on the field.
His career expanded into the international arena where he worked across different formats. Dubey stood as an umpire in one One Day International and four T20 Internationals. He also brought his expertise to the women's game. He officiated in one Women's One Day International in 2015 and four Women's T20 Internationals between 2014 and 2015.
Beyond standard international fixtures, Dubey participated in unique tournaments featuring retired legends. He stood as an umpire in the Road Safety World Series. This event allowed him to manage games featuring some of the most famous names to ever play the sport.
