Allan Border Field

Allan Border Field sits in the Brisbane suburb of Albion. The ground shares its address with the Australian Cricket Academy, which has operated from the site since 2004 to develop elite cricketers across the country. Before the cricket oval took shape, the ground served a different sporting purpose entirely as the home of the Fortitude Valley Diehards rugby league club from 1909 until 1995.

Cricket at the venue spans a competitive timeline from 1998 through 2026. The oval functions as the regular home ground for the Queensland Bulls and the Queensland Fire. Other representative sides including the Cricket Australia XI, Southern Stars, Australia A, and the National Performance Squad also use the facilities for domestic and international fixtures.

A capacity of 6,500 spectators fits tightly around the playing surface. Major domestic and international tournaments have used the venue since the late nineteen-nineties. It hosted matches during the 1998 Commonwealth Games cricket tournament, as well as fixtures from the Sheffield Shield, the ICC Women's Championship, and the Men's T20 World Cup.

The international schedule spans multiple formats for both men and women. The first women's one-day international took place on 7 February 1999 between Australia and South Africa. Decades later, the ground hosted a women's one-day international between Australia and the West Indies on 8 October 2023.

Short-format international fixtures arrived in October 2006 when Australia played New Zealand in the first women's twenty-twenty international hosted at the venue. That exact international matchup returned to the ground on 24 September 2024 for another women's twenty-twenty international clash.

Recent multi-day red-ball fixtures highlight the typical domestic grind at the venue. Tasmania and Queensland played out a draw here in 2024, and the two teams drew again in 2025. Western Australia and Queensland also fought to a draw at the ground in 2026.
