Buffalo Park

Buffalo Park sits in East London in the Eastern Cape. Cricket matches have been played at this ground across the period from 1993 to 2024. The venue accommodates 16,000 spectators and serves as a home ground for South Africa, the Warriors, and the Border cricket club.

International fixtures started here in December 1992 when the South African men played India in an one-day international. Over the following decades, visiting national teams arrived from New Zealand, Pakistan, India, West Indies, and Sri Lanka to contest various limited-overs formats and Test cricket.

The sole men's Test match hosted at this venue took place between October 18 and October 21 in 2002. In that fixture, the host nation faced Bangladesh. Men's one-day internationals continued through March 2023 when South Africa played the West Indies.

Men's twenty20 internationals arrived later, beginning with a fixture against New Zealand in December 2012 and concluding for the men's side with a match against England in February 2020. Women's international matches established a presence here starting in February 2004.

Women's one-day internationals and twenty20 internationals expanded the ground fixture list significantly. The last recorded women's one-day international and twenty20 international matches both featured South Africa playing against Sri Lanka in April 2024.

Major tournament fixtures have utilised the facilities extensively over the years. Competitions staged at the ground include the Cricket World Cup, the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, the Indian Premier League, the South Africa women's Tri-Nation Series, and the ICC World Cricket League Championship.

Recent tournament action produced notable results on the pitch. Pakistan secured a ten-wicket win against New Zealand in 2024, while Nepal edged Afghanistan by a single wicket during the same year.
