Grace Road

Grace Road holds 6,000 spectators for cricket matches. A full house here packs out the stands in Leicester, creating a tight environment for county fixtures. The capacity expands significantly to 19,999 for music concerts, but cricket remains the primary focus of the venue.

Leicestershire County Cricket Club has called this ground home since 1894. The club plays its regular fixtures here across multiple formats, hosting domestic opponents like Durham, the Derbyshire Falcons, and the Notts Outlaws through a packed summer schedule.

Competitive action at the ground covers the County Championship and the T20 Blast. Recent domestic encounters feature mixed fortunes for the local side, including a heavy defeat against Durham by eight wickets and a narrow twelve-run victory against Yorkshire in the shorter format.

International cricket has also visited the turf over the decades. The ground hosted its first men's one-day international in June 1983 between India and Zimbabwe, followed years later by a men's ODI fixture involving Scotland and West Indies in May 1999.

The venue staged its only women's Test match in August 2006, played between England and India over four days. Women's one-day internationals also found a home here, stretching from an early fixture between England and New Zealand in June 1984 up to a more recent clash against West Indies in June 2025.

Cricket operations at the ground span from the late nineteenth century through to the modern era. The establishment date goes back to 1878, giving the venue nearly a century and a half of continuous use as a sporting facility in England.
