Maple Leaf Cricket Club opened in King City in 1954. It operates with a turf wicket facility and holds a capacity of 7,000 spectators. The ground achieved approval from the International Cricket Council in 2006 to host One Day Internationals, becoming the second venue in Canada to reach that status.
International cricket arrived on the turf in 2008. Canada played Bermuda in the first men's one day international on 28 June 2008. Later that year, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe contested the first men's twenty20 international at the venue on 10 October 2008.
The ground hosts the national team alongside domestic franchises. Canada uses the venue regularly for home fixtures. Other teams that appear frequently on the ground include the Cricket West Indies B Team, the Vancouver Knights, the Winnipeg Hawks, Oman, and Nepal.
Several major competitions bring matches to King City. The schedule features the Global T20 Canada, the Canada Tri-Nation Series, the Quadrangular Twenty20 Series, the ICC World Cricket League Championship, and tours such as Kenya in Canada.
Recent fixtures demonstrate competitive encounters between visiting international sides and the hosts. During 2024 matches, Canada defeated Oman by five wickets and Nepal by fourteen runs, while Nepal secured a fifty-six run victory over Oman.
The fixture list extends well past twenty twenty-four. The schedule tracks forward to a men's twenty20 international between the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands on 15 June 2025. Another men's one day international follows between Canada and the United States on 6 June 2026.
