The men's team played their first Test match here against the West Indies in December 1994. The most recent Test took place in March 2022 against Sri Lanka. For one-day internationals, the ground saw its first match in November 1993, while the last ODI was held in September 2023 between India and Australia. International cricket maintains a strong presence here.
Short-format cricket has also featured prominently at the stadium. The first men's T20 international occurred in December 2009 against Sri Lanka. Most recently, India played Afghanistan in a T20I in January 2024. The Punjab Kings used the facility for their home IPL matches from 2008 until their departure in 2023.
