Sharjah Cricket Stadium

Sharjah Cricket Stadium sits in the city of Sharjah within the United Arab Emirates. The venue opened in 1982 and holds a capacity of 16,000 spectators for cricket fixtures. The ground established its place in the sport early through international tournaments rather than domestic fixtures alone.

International cricket arrived in April 1984 with a men's one-day international between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Test cricket followed much later in January 2002 when Pakistan played the West Indies. The final men's Test match at the ground took place in late 2016 against the same opponent.

Men's Twenty20 internationals began at the stadium in March 2013 with a fixture between Afghanistan and Scotland. Women's international cricket arrived at the venue in January 2015 when Pakistan and Sri Lanka played both an ODI and a T20I.

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates use the ground as a home venue. Other tenants include the Desert Vipers and Sharjah Warriors. Teams appearing most frequently across the history of the venue include Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, West Indies, New Zealand, and Islamabad United.

The stadium has staged numerous high-profile competitions over the decades. These events include the Pakistan Super League, Indian Premier League, Afghanistan Premier League, Sharjah Cup, International League T20, and the Champions Trophy.

Recent action features the International League T20 and local franchise matches. In 2026, MI Emirates defeated the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by seven wickets. Earlier encounters in 2025 included victories for the Desert Vipers against the Sharjah Warriorz and the Dubai Capitals against the Gulf Giants.
