Sky Stadium serves as the home ground for the Wellington Firebirds. Built between 1998 and 2000, the venue features a capacity of 34,500. It opened its doors on 3 January 2000, quickly establishing itself as a primary location for top-tier cricket fixtures within the Wellington region.
International cricket began at the site with a men's ODI between New Zealand and the West Indies held in January 2000. The venue has since hosted various men's and women's formats. Most recently, it hosted a men's ODI against England in November 2025 and a women's T20I against Australia.
The ground supports diverse international schedules including both T20I and ODI matches. The first men's T20I occurred in December 2006 against Sri Lanka. Fans regularly attend for domestic Wellington Firebirds games and international tests of the New Zealand national teams throughout the calendar year.
The stadium has a total capacity of 34,500 spectators.
