The Sports Hub Trivandrum opened on 26 January 2015. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, this facility holds 50,000 spectators. Construction finished in 2015 after groundbreaking started in 2012. It serves as a home venue for the Indian national cricket team and the Kerala state cricket team. It also hosts selected matches for the Indian national football team.
International cricket arrived at the venue on 7 November 2017 with a men's T20I between India and New Zealand. This format returned frequently, with the most recent men's T20I held on 31 January 2026. The ground also accommodates the women's game, having hosted fixtures between India and Sri Lanka in late December 2025 across two separate matches.
The men's ODI format began here on 1 November 2018. India faced the West Indies for that first match. The most recent men's ODI took place on 15 January 2023 when India played Sri Lanka. These matches demonstrate the ground's regular usage for limited-overs cricket throughout the years since its inauguration. It remains a primary destination for national teams.
While cricket dominates the calendar, the stadium operates as a multi-purpose venue. It functions on a design, build, operate, and transfer model. Built on land leased from the University of Kerala, the site covers 36 acres. It maintains status as an eco-friendly facility and earned the David Vickers Award for New Venue of the Year in 2016.
