The chartered flight “AIC24WC” (Air India Champions 24 World Cup) has been organised by the BCCI.

India’s T20 world champions finally left Barbados for New Delhi on a special flight from the Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown on Wednesday. They were stuck for three days because a category 4 hurricane had forced the airport to close.

The special Air India flight, AIC24WC (Air India Champions 24 World Cup), took off around 4:50 am local time and will land in New Delhi on Thursday at around 6:20 am IST.

The flight includes the India players, support staff, players’ families, board officials, and some members of the media. The BCCI arranged the flight.

The Boeing 777 took off from New Jersey on July 2 and landed in Barbados around 2 am local time, after the Grantley Adams International Airport resumed operations on Tuesday. The team was supposed to leave at around 6 pm local time on July 2 and arrive at 7:45 pm IST on Wednesday, but the plane landed late in Barbados, causing a delay.

India won the T20 World Cup title after a thrilling seven-run win over South Africa in the final on Saturday.

The players will be honored by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly after returning to the country. There are also plans for a roadshow in Mumbai to celebrate the team, who won a senior ICC trophy after 11 years.
