Aiden Markram as a captain came to attend the press conference before the Bangladesh vs South Africa test in Dhaka. He has expressed his own opnions over the questions. They have had some good practice sessions in Mirpur for 3 days at least.
He said, ” The preps’s been good. We’ve been around for a few days. Nice and hot and sweaty for us. It’s been nice to get used to it again. Condition-wise, pretty much expected. The facilities have been very good. Hotel’s been great, people have been really accommodating towards us. Enjoyed the first few days here and from the cricket side the preparation is really well. We had a preparation camp in South Africa before we came here. We feel like we are in a good space as a team. And yeah looking forward to the series. ”
Undoubtedly, in Dhaka every team is concern about spinning track. Captain did not hide that as well. South Africa skipper said, ” The spin is a big talking point especially if you are from South Africa where you don’t get these conditions. It’s an exciting challenge for us to face as a team that is relatively young and didn’t play that much of Test cricket. When you’re exposed to new conditions you learn new stuff about the game you love. Try to take the lessons with you, moving into the next Test match, and also the future subcontinent tours. Fantastic opportunity for us as a team.
South Africans have not some good records in this condition. But in the end, playing good matters most. Captain gave main focus on that. He said, ” We’d like to play some good cricket. We feel as a Test side that we have the skills. We have a better option now to face spin bowling in these types of conditions. Again it’s an exciting opportunity. ”
” Hopefully we can put many sessions of good cricket together and hopefully lean towards the positive result. But we’ve no doubt that it’s gonna be tough, it’s gonna be very different for us as a team. But again that’s the exciting part of it. ”
Keshav Maharaj will be the key for South Africa. Captain also said that as well.
” Keshy is an extremely experienced and clever cricketer, guys have been tapping into to gather information, some knowledge, some advice from him. But as a team, the conditions are like what was expected, and like I mentioned we’ve a practice camp before coming here. It’s not like we haven’t been training and putting in the work. So it’s not bad that you didn’t have a practice game so that you can be nice and fresh for the game tomorrow. ”
