Mominul Haque now holds a unique and bittersweet pairing of records in Bangladesh Test cricket—most centuries and most ducks.

For a while, Mominul has been the record-holder for the most Test centuries by a Bangladeshi. However, the latest record he set is far less celebratory. He now stands alone as the player with the most ducks for Bangladesh in Test cricket.

Previously, Mominul shared the top spot with Mohammad Ashraful. But on Saturday, during the first day of the Jamaica Test, he was dismissed for a duck, making him the sole record-holder of this unwanted feat.

The combination of most centuries and most ducks in Test cricket is something no other player in the cricketing world has achieved.

Mominul has now been dismissed for a duck 17 times in 128 innings. In comparison, Ashraful’s career ended with 16 ducks in 119 innings.

The next three players on this list are Mushfiqur Rahim, Syed Khaled Ahmed, and Taijul Islam, each with 13 ducks. Mushfiq has played 174 innings, Taijul 86, and Khaled has managed the dubious achievement in just 26 innings.

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has 12 ducks, while Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, and Khaled Mashud have been dismissed for a duck 11 times each.

Globally, the record for most ducks in Test cricket belongs to Courtney Walsh, the first bowler to take 500 wickets, who was dismissed for a duck 43 times. He is followed by Stuart Broad (39), Chris Martin (36), and Glenn McGrath (35).

Among specialist batsmen, Marvan Atapattu holds the record for the most ducks, with 22. Mominul, who has been dismissed for a duck three times in his last six innings, seems to be inching closer to that mark.

While his century record remains a testament to his skill, this new milestone is a stark reminder of the highs and lows of a cricketing career.
