Bangladesh is in a commanding position after day three of the Jamaica Test, leading by 211 runs, thanks to Nahid Rana’s fiery five-wicket haul and the batsmen’s aggressive run-scoring.

Day three of a Test match, often called the ‘moving day,’ usually provides a clear glimpse of the game’s outcome. That was evident in Jamaica as Bangladesh dominated with both bat and ball. Nahid Rana’s pace and bounce dismantled the Caribbean batting lineup, while the batsmen capitalized on the momentum with an attacking approach. Bangladesh ended the day with a glimmer of victory in their eyes.

Resuming on 70/1, West Indies crumbled under pressure, losing their last nine wickets for just 91 runs, bowled out for 146. Nahid Rana was the star, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul with figures of 5/61 in an electrifying spell. Despite defending a modest first-innings total of 164, Bangladesh managed to take a crucial 18-run lead.

In their second innings, Bangladesh responded with aggression. Although they lost Mahmudul Hasan Joy early for a duck, Shahadat Hossain and Shadman Islam set the tone with brisk scoring. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz continued the momentum with a flurry of boundaries, adding to the team’s healthy total. Bangladesh ended the day at 193/5, with Zakir Ali and Taijul Islam holding fort.

The fourth day now holds immense promise for Bangladesh. With a lead already over 200 and five wickets in hand, they aim to push the target beyond West Indies’ reach, especially with the pitch expected to deteriorate further.

Brief Scores:
Bangladesh 1st Innings: 164
West Indies 1st Innings: 146 (Brathwaite 39, Carty 40; Nahid 5/61, Hasan 2/19)
Bangladesh 2nd Innings: 193/5 (Shadman 46, Shahadat 28, Miraz 42; Shamar Joseph 2/70, Seales 1/43).

With both bat and ball firing, Bangladesh inches closer to a remarkable victory in Jamaica.
