In the past, Barisal has hosted T20 legends like Chris Gayle, and last season, they welcomed South Africa’s explosive batsman, David Miller, known as “Killer” Miller. This time, Barisal has secured another major name: Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi.
Fortune Barisal, the current BPL champions, officially announced today that they have signed the 24-year-old Afridi on a direct contract. This will be Afridi’s first appearance in the BPL. The new season is set to begin on December 30.
Afridi, the left-arm pacer, will only play the first five matches for Barisal in this year’s tournament. The Pakistan Cricket Board has granted him permission to play until January 15 of next year. The BPL is scheduled to end on February 7.
In addition to Afridi, Barisal has also signed foreign players such as Kyle Mayers, David Malan, Mohammad Nabi, Faheem Ashraf, Ali Mohammad, and Jahanad Khan.
