After losing three consecutive matches, Dhaka Capitals have bolstered their squad with Mosaddek Hossain, while England’s World Cup-winning opener Jason Roy is set to join the team.

One new player has already arrived, and another is expected to join by Monday night. With two fresh faces, a new city, and a new venue, coach Khaled Mahmud is hopeful for a fresh start. He believes Sylhet will be the turning point for his team.

Dhaka Capitals have had a poor start to this year’s BPL, losing all three matches in the Dhaka phase. While Litton Das, one of their key players, scored some runs in the first game, he failed in the next two. Another dependable player, Tanzid Hasan, has also been struggling to deliver. In their most recent match, captain Thisara Perera fought hard with a century amidst the collapse, but the team’s performance in the first two games was far from competitive.

Mosaddek Hossain and Jason Roy are joining the squad for the Sylhet phase. Mosaddek, who surprisingly went unsold in the draft, has finally found a place in Dhaka Capitals. He trained with the team on Monday in Sylhet. Jason Roy is expected to arrive at night, and both players are likely to feature in Tuesday’s match, confirmed coach Khaled Mahmud.

Speaking to the media after Monday’s practice session in Sylhet, Mahmud expressed his hope for a turnaround from this point onward.

“We obviously haven’t played well. We haven’t met expectations. Even our national cricketers haven’t performed to their potential. But now we’re in a new place (Sylhet). The wicket is excellent, the weather is fantastic. We can definitely hope for a fresh start. I believe we will bounce back.”

“If we want to make it to the playoffs, it’s crucial to start turning things around now. We need to win three or four matches coming up. There’s no doubt our team is strong. We have Tamim (Tanzid Hasan), Litton, and other talented players.”

Adding Mosaddek to the team addresses a significant gap, Mahmud explained, as they lacked an off-spinner in their lineup.

“The reason we brought Mosaddek in is that we don’t have an off-spinner. Even though we have left-handed batters, we were relying too much on left-arm spinners or fast bowlers. He adds variety to our attack.”

On Tuesday, Dhaka will face a tough opponent in Rangpur Riders, who have won all four of their matches so far.
