Rangpur Riders’ Incredible Victory as Khulna Tigers Stumble Again

With 18 balls left and just 22 runs needed, Khulna Tigers appeared to be cruising with seven wickets in hand. The atmosphere in the dugout was cheerful, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and his teammates relaxed and joking around. However, the mood shifted dramatically as Rangpur Riders snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, leaving Khulna in shock and disbelief.

A Stunning Turn of Events
Khulna, once in control, lost their last six wickets for just 12 runs, handing Rangpur an 8-run victory. The match, held at Sylhet International Stadium, reached its climax in the final over, with Rangpur pulling off an extraordinary comeback.

Rangpur’s Batting Brilliance
Winning the toss, Rangpur set a challenging target of 186 runs, thanks to Khushdil Shah’s explosive 73 off 35 balls. His partnership with Iftikhar Ahmed (43 off 36) added 115 runs, powering Rangpur to a strong finish. The final 10 overs yielded 118 runs, giving their bowlers a solid score to defend.

Khulna’s Chase Falters
Khulna started well, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz smashing 39 off 24 balls in a counterattacking innings that included three consecutive sixes off Nahid Rana. Naim Sheikh contributed a steady 58, while Afif Hossain (29) and Mahidul Islam Ankon (15) kept the chase alive. But the dramatic collapse in the final overs, fueled by exceptional fielding and tight bowling from Rangpur, sealed their fate.

The Final Over Drama
Needing 12 runs off the last over, Khulna fell apart under pressure. Mohammed Nawaz was run out attempting a second run, and Nasum Ahmed followed suit. A full toss from Mohammad Saifuddin was caught at long-on, ending the match and sparking wild celebrations for Rangpur.

Match Highlights

Rangpur Riders: 186/5 in 20 overs (Khushdil 73*, Iftikhar 43, Taufiq 36).
Khulna Tigers: 178/9 in 20 overs (Naim 58, Miraz 39).
Result: Rangpur Riders won by 8 runs.
Player of the Match: Akif Javed (3/29).
Rangpur Riders now continue their undefeated streak with seven wins, while Khulna suffers a third consecutive loss, leaving their campaign in jeopardy.
