Both players have won the ICC Player of the Month award for the second time.

Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional performance in the Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia earned him a well-deserved honor as December’s ICC Player of the Month in the men’s category. Meanwhile, Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland was crowned the best female cricketer for the same month.

On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners for December’s Player of the Month awards. Bumrah and Sutherland have both received this prestigious recognition for the second time in their careers.

Jasprit Bumrah (India)
Bumrah outperformed Australia captain Pat Cummins and South African pacer Dane Paterson to claim the award. His December record included three Test matches, during which he claimed 22 wickets at an incredible average of 14.22.

  • In the Adelaide Test, Bumrah took 4 wickets for 61 runs in the first innings.
  • In Brisbane, he delivered a stellar performance, taking 6 wickets for 76 runs in the first innings and 3 for 18 in the second.
  • In Melbourne, he grabbed 4 wickets for 99 runs in the first innings and 5 for 57 in the second.

These performances saw Bumrah achieve the highest-ever rating points by an Indian bowler in the ICC Test rankings. Although he was shortlisted for November’s award, he narrowly missed out. This time, however, he emerged victorious.

Annabel Sutherland (Australia)
Sutherland, on the other hand, lit up December with her all-round brilliance. In six ODIs, she scored 269 runs at an average of 67.25 and an impressive strike rate of 113.98. She also hit back-to-back centuries against India and New Zealand.

With the ball, Sutherland was equally effective, taking 9 wickets at an economy rate of just 3.85 runs per over.

She was named Player of the Series in both ODI series, and her incredible form in December secured her yet another prestigious ICC honor.
