Virat Kohli has recovered from his knee injury and is ready to play in the second ODI against England.

Kohli missed the first ODI last Thursday due to his knee issue, but India managed to win the match by 4 wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

India will face England in the second match on Sunday. The day before, India’s batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, confirmed Kohli’s fitness.

“Kohli is fit and he practiced with us today. He is ready to play.”

Kohli injured his knee during a practice session the day before the first match in Nagpur. Shreyas Iyer replaced him in the playing XI and scored 59 runs off 36 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes, in his first international match after six months.

With Kohli fit again, India faces a selection dilemma. To make space for Kohli, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal might have to make way. Kohli could open the innings with Rohit Sharma, while Shubman Gill, who scored 87 runs in the previous match while batting at number three, might continue in that role. If Shreyas is dropped, Kohli and Gill could bat at numbers three and four, respectively.

Kohli’s last ODI was in August against Sri Lanka, and with the Champions Trophy approaching, this series will provide him with a great opportunity to sharpen his form ahead of the major tournament.
