The total prize money for this year’s Champions Trophy will be $6.9 million, which is 53% more than the previous edition.

The ICC announced the prize money for the upcoming tournament just five days before its start. The prize pool for this edition is set at $6.9 million, a 53% increase compared to the last tournament held in 2017.

The International Cricket Council revealed the prize money details in a statement on Friday. The winning team in the final will receive $2.24 million along with the trophy.

The runner-up team will get $1.12 million, while the two teams eliminated in the semi-finals will receive $560,000 each.

The fifth and sixth-placed teams will earn $350,000 each, and the seventh and eighth-placed teams will receive $140,000 each.

Additionally, each of the eight participating teams will receive $125,000 for their participation.

There will also be match-winning incentives. Teams will earn more than $34,000 for each victory in the group stage.

Originally, the tournament was scheduled to take place in Pakistan. However, due to the Indian government not allowing their team to travel to Pakistan, a crisis arose. In the end, a hybrid model was adopted, with India’s matches being played in Dubai, UAE.

This will be the first ICC tournament held in Pakistan since the 1996 co-hosted World Cup. Matches in Pakistan will take place in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

In the tournament, Group A includes Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and New Zealand, while Group B consists of Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The first semi-final will be held in Dubai, while the second will take place in Lahore. If India reaches the final, the title match will be held in Dubai. If India doesn’t make it, the final will be in Lahore.

The tournament will kick off with the match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi next Wednesday.
