This time in the IPL, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will play in just one role.

After overcoming uncertainties, Marsh has finally received permission to play in the IPL, but his all-rounder role is temporarily on hold. He will only be seen as a batsman for the Lucknow Super Giants. The Australian all-rounder will not bowl in the tournament for the Indian franchise.

Marsh, however, is likely content with this decision. Until recently, his participation in the IPL was uncertain. Due to an injury to his lower leg, he has been unable to play any cricket since January 7. He missed the Sri Lanka tour with Australia and was later ruled out of the Champions Trophy as well.

In early February, after seeing specialists, Marsh was advised to take sufficient rest. After completing that period, he has recently started batting practice, and as a result, the 33-year-old has been cleared to play as a batsman in the IPL.

Marsh will join the team in India on Thursday.

Lucknow Super Giants have acquired Marsh for 3.4 crore rupees. He will also have Justin Langer, the former Australian batsman, as his coach. Langer had previously coached Marsh in the Australian national team, Western Australia, and Perth Scorchers.

Although Marsh was with Delhi Capitals for the last three IPL seasons, injuries prevented him from playing regularly. Over his entire IPL career, he has been part of four different teams, but injuries and form issues have meant that he has never quite been able to show his best.

Due to injuries, Australian pacers Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood, who also missed the Champions Trophy, are now reportedly nearing full recovery and preparing to play in the IPL.
