Former Indian captain and experienced wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni has said that his decision to continue playing will depend on his body.

Having already bid farewell to international cricket, Dhoni is now only playing in the IPL. However, he has struggled to make a significant impact this season. This has sparked intense discussions about his retirement. There are even rumors that this could be his last season in the IPL. Dhoni, one of India’s most successful captains, has addressed these speculations.

Retirement rumors surrounding Dhoni are nothing new, but after Chennai Super Kings’ match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, the talks gained new momentum. Dhoni’s parents were present at the MA Chidambaram Stadium that day.

Indian media reported that during the match, Dhoni’s wife Sakshi was seen referring to it as their daughter Ziva’s “last match,” which only fueled further speculation about Dhoni’s possible retirement.

Amidst these rumors, the 43-year-old Dhoni spoke about his retirement plans on Raj Shamani’s podcast, sharing his thoughts on the matter.

“I’m still playing the IPL, and I take it one year at a time. I’m 43, and by July, I’ll be 44. I have 10 months to decide if I want to play another year. The decision to continue playing in the IPL isn’t mine; it depends on whether my body allows me to or not.”

So far, Dhoni has played four matches in this IPL, but he hasn’t been able to make a significant impact. Chennai has lost three out of their first four matches this season.
