In cricket, a bigger six doesn’t mean extra runs. A six is always worth six runs—whether it travels 60 meters or 100! Still, batters who can clear the boundary by a huge margin are always a little more special—especially in T20 leagues like the IPL.

So, who’s hit the longest six in this year’s IPL so far?

Out of the 30 matches played so far, the biggest six has come off the bat of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma. The left-handed opener smashed a 106-meter six against Punjab Kings on April 12. That day, he hit a total of nine sixes, scoring a stunning 141 off 55 balls.

Just behind him are Phil Salt of RCB and Travis Head, also from SRH, both hitting sixes that traveled 105 meters. Head launched his monster hit in SRH’s opening match on March 23, while Salt’s came on April 2 against Gujarat. Interestingly, all three of them are openers.

Outside of these three, only Nicholas Pooran and Aniket Verma have managed to hit sixes over the 100-meter mark—both sending the ball 102 meters.

125 In 2008, Albie Morkel set the IPL record for the longest six

The record for the longest six in IPL history still belongs to South African all-rounder Albie Morkel, who smashed a 125-meter six in the very first season back in 2008.

Among currently active players, the biggest six belongs to Liam Livingstone, who crushed a 117-meter six in Bengaluru during the 2022 season.
