“Before 2025 ends, I’ll have 50 centuries to my name”— that’s what Anamul Haque wrote in his diary back in 2014. Earlier this year in February, the batter—better known as Bijoy—posted a picture of that diary entry on Facebook.
Now, that prediction has come true. Despite being out of the national team, Anamul has reached his 50th century in recognized cricket across all formats—right on time in 2025.
Anamul scored his 49th century on March 25. Today, he completed his 50th, hitting the milestone in style during a Dhaka Premier League match at BKSP. Playing for Gazi Group Cricketers, he smashed a six to get to the landmark, lofting pacer Shariful Islam of Legends of Rupganj over deep backward square leg.
To top it off, his team won the match too. Chasing 223, Anamul opened the innings and remained unbeaten on 110 off 105 balls, hitting 10 fours and 1 six. Gazi Group sealed the win by 7 wickets with 2 overs to spare in the 43-over match.
Out of his 50 centuries in recognized cricket, 24 came in First-Class matches, 23 in List A, and 3 in T20s.
Since January this year, Anamul has held the record for the most centuries by a Bangladeshi batter in recognized cricket. He claimed that title during the Bangladesh Premier League while playing for Rajshahi against Khulna—scoring his 47th ton and surpassing Naeem Islam’s 46.
Anamul had actually equaled Naeem back in December 2024 during a National League T20 match. Representing Khulna Division against Dhaka Division, the right-hander played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs.
