Due to an ankle injury, Taskin Ahmed has been left out of the squads for the upcoming series against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. It’s expected to take him about a month to recover fully from the injury. After consulting a specialist in London, Taskin has been advised to undergo a one-month rehabilitation program. BCB’s chief physician, Debashis Chowdhury, shared the latest update on Taskin’s condition today.

While in London, Taskin consulted three specialists—a sports surgeon, a sports psychotherapist, and an ankle specialist—who jointly provided a medical report. Debashis Chowdhury, who accompanied Taskin, reviewed the report and coordinated with others to devise a one-month rehabilitation plan.

Taskin has been dealing with ankle pain since October last year but continued playing through it. However, the pain gradually worsened, eventually affecting his bowling. As a result, he flew to London on April 27 for a detailed medical evaluation.

Taskin has already begun his rehabilitation program from today. He will continue the process under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Nathan Kelly until the national team leaves for Pakistan. The full plan was developed in consultation with physio Bayezidul Islam.

The injury also forced Taskin to miss the home Test series against Zimbabwe. Now, he’s been left out of the T20 squads for the UAE and Pakistan series as well.

Bangladesh is scheduled to play a full series in Sri Lanka starting in the second week of June. Taskin’s rehab is expected to be completed by the first week of that month, making the Sri Lanka series the likely stage for his comeback.
