Alongside Tanzid, Zakir Ali and Liton Das have also made progress in the T20I batting rankings.
After scoring a half-century in the second T20I against the UAE, Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan made a significant leap in the T20I batting rankings. Liton Das and Zakir Ali have also moved up.
The ICC released its weekly update of the men’s player rankings on Wednesday as usual. Among Bangladesh’s bowlers in T20Is, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Shoriful Islam all showed improvements.
Tanzid didn’t have much impact in the first T20I last Saturday in Sharjah, where Bangladesh won by 27 runs. He scored just 10 runs from 9 balls, hitting one four and one six.
However, in the second match—a thrilling contest that Bangladesh lost by 2 wickets—the left-handed batter showcased his talent. He played an aggressive knock of 59 runs from 33 balls, smashing 3 sixes and 8 fours.
Thanks to this performance, Tanzid has jumped 29 spots in the T20I batting rankings, re-entering the top 100. The 24-year-old is now ranked 98th.
In the first match, Parvez Hossain became only the second Bangladeshi to score a century in T20 internationals. The explosive left-hander hammered 100 runs off 54 balls, with 9 sixes and 5 fours. Despite that stunning knock, he’s still outside the top 100 in the rankings.
Zakir Ali has also moved up 6 places after scoring 13 and 18 in the two games. The wicketkeeper-batter is now ranked 82nd. Captain Liton Das, who scored 11 and 40 in the series, climbed one spot to 49th.
Towhid Hridoy also gained a position. After scoring 20 and 45 runs in the two matches, the middle-order batter is now ranked joint-29th alongside West Indies’ Shai Hope.
In UAE’s historic win over Bangladesh, Mohammad Waseem smashed 82 off 42 balls with 5 sixes and 9 fours. He had earlier scored 54 from 39 balls, including 2 sixes and 7 fours. With back-to-back fifties, the UAE skipper has moved up 8 places to reach 19th in the rankings.
Asif Khan, who scored 42 and 19 in the series, climbed 11 spots to 88th.
Australia’s Travis Head remains at the top of the T20I batting rankings, while New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy continues to lead the bowlers’ list.
Among Bangladeshi bowlers, Mustafizur, Tanzim, and Shoriful each climbed one spot. Mustafizur, who took 2 wickets for just 17 runs in the first match, is now ranked 25th.
Tanzim, with a total of 3 wickets in the series, is ranked 40th. Shoriful, who claimed 2 wickets in the second match, now sits at 76th.
India’s Hardik Pandya continues to lead the T20I all-rounder rankings.
