West Indies have been fined five percent of their match fees.

After suffering a heavy defeat in the first ODI against England, the West Indies received more bad news. The team has been fined for a slow over-rate, losing five percent of their match fees.

The Caribbean side lost by a massive 238 runs to England in Birmingham last Thursday. During that match, they bowled one over short of the required number within the allotted time.

According to ICC regulations, teams are docked five percent of their match fees for each over they fall short in the given time.

West Indies captain Shai Hope accepted the sanction handed down by match referee Jeff Crowe, so no formal hearing was required.

The second ODI between the two teams takes place in Cardiff on Sunday.
