To prepare for the Asia Cup, the BCB has organized this series outside the ICC FTP schedule.
Choosing a batting-friendly pitch for Asia Cup preparations, the BCB has selected Sylhet as the venue for all of Bangladesh’s T20 matches against the Netherlands. Every match will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
This bilateral series is being arranged outside the ICC’s Future Tours Programme to help ready the Bangladesh team for the upcoming continental championship.
This will be the first time the Netherlands are touring Bangladesh for a bilateral series. The Dutch have played here only once before — during the 2011 ODI World Cup.
The Netherlands team will arrive in Dhaka on August 26 before heading to Sylhet. The first match of the series will be held on August 30, followed by games on September 1 and September 3. All matches will start at 6 PM local time.
In T20 cricket, the two teams have faced off five times, with Bangladesh winning four matches. The Netherlands’ sole victory came at home in 2012.
Currently, the Netherlands are ranked 13th in the ICC T20 rankings and regularly qualify for the World Cup. Bangladesh holds the 10th spot for now.
Immediately after the series against the Dutch, Liton Kumar Das and the Bangladesh team will fly to the UAE for the Asia Cup, which begins on September 9. Bangladesh’s first match will be against Hong Kong on September 11.
