India’s dramatic win in the Oval Test has brought significant movement in the ICC Test bowling rankings, with several players reaching career-best positions — including Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gus Atkinson, and Matt Henry.
Siraj played a key role in India’s thrilling victory at The Oval, and that impact is clearly reflected in the latest rankings update. The Indian pacer has climbed 12 spots to reach 15th place in the ICC Test bowlers rankings — his highest position to date. His previous best was 16th, achieved in January 2024.
In the fifth and final Test against England, Siraj was outstanding with the ball, claiming five wickets in the second innings and nine in the match overall. His match-winning performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
India secured a stunning 6-run win at The Oval — their narrowest victory margin by runs in Test history — and ended the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at 2-2.
Siraj’s teammate Prasidh Krishna also shone brightly, picking up four wickets in each innings. The consistent performance earned him a 25-place jump in the rankings, taking him to a career-best 59th position.
This made Siraj and Prasidh only the second Indian bowling pair to take four or more wickets each in both innings of a Test. The first to achieve this feat for India were Bishan Bedi and Erapalli Prasanna against Australia in 1969.
Despite England’s loss, their pacers Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue made their presence felt. Both bowlers took eight wickets each in the match. Atkinson broke into the top 10 of the Test bowling rankings for the first time, rising two places to share 10th spot with Australia’s Mitchell Starc. Tongue also saw a notable rise — jumping 14 spots to reach 46th position.
New Zealand’s Matt Henry also reaped rewards from his performance in the Test win against Zimbabwe. The pacer claimed six wickets in the first innings and nine in total, helping New Zealand win by nine wickets. His effort pushed him three spots higher to a career-best 4th place. Henry also crossed the 800-point mark for the first time, now sitting at 817 rating points.
In the Test bowlers rankings, the top three remain unchanged: Jasprit Bumrah (India), Kagiso Rabada (South Africa), and Pat Cummins (Australia) hold the first, second, and third spots respectively.
Meanwhile, in the batting rankings, Joe Root further solidified his position at the top after a century at The Oval. His teammate Harry Brook moved up one spot to second following his attacking century in the second innings, pushing New Zealand’s Kane Williamson down to third. Steve Smith of Australia remains in fourth.
India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal also made strides, climbing three spots to fifth after his second-innings century against England. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell moved up four places to ninth.
In the Test all-rounders rankings, India’s Ravindra Jadeja remains firmly at the top, holding onto the No. 1 position.
